Police in Ontario have reported that a motorcyclist was seriously injured on March 13 in a collision with a car driven by a 76-year-old man. The accident took place at approximately 12:44 p.m. on Highway 6 in Haldimand County. Highway 6 is also known as Plank Road. A charge of making an unsafe turn has been laid against the driver of the car. The crash scene was closed to traffic for several hours as emergency response personnel and highway maintenance crews went about their duties.

According to a police report, the car was attempting to make a left turn from the northbound lane of Highway 6 onto First Line Road when it collided with a southbound motorcycle. First responders arriving at the auto accident scene north of Hagersville quickly realized that the motorcyclist had suffered life-threatening injuries.

The motorcyclist, a 49-year-old Haldimand man, was initially transported by paramedics to an area medical facility for treatment. However, the severity of his injuries necessitated a level of care that could not be provided locally, and a helicopter was called in to transport the man to Hamilton. The driver of the car was not injured in the accident.

Motorcyclists are extremely vulnerable on the roads of Ontario, and they can be killed or seriously injured when other motorists fail to drive with the required levels of care and attention. The injuries suffered in this type of collision often leave accident victims unable to earn a living for prolonged periods, and those who perform physically demanding work may never be able to return to their former jobs. A personal injury lawyer may pursue civil remedies on behalf of accident victims when their injuries were caused by negligent actions. This kind of lawsuit could seek damages to cover lost income and the cost of repairing or replacing damaged property.
