Ontario drivers may be interested in the story of one man who was killed by another driver at an intersection that one resident believes is becoming more dangerous. Authorities are continuing an investigation into the incident.
A 47-year-old Waterdown man was traveling west on Campbellville Road in Flamborough on Dec. 2. Around 3:30 p.m., as the man entered the intersection with Centre Road, a woman traveling north collided with his vehicle. The man’s car turned over from the force of the collision and landed on its roof in a nearby ditch. Emergency crews arrived at the scene of the auto accident only to pronounce the man dead. The man’s identity has not yet been released.
According to a police representative, the woman traveling north failed to obey a stop sign, when the man had the right of way. Witnesses at the scene say that the woman’s vehicle was also in the ditch. They attempted to free the man from his car, but were unable to do so due to the damage to the vehicle. One local resident believes that the increased traffic at the intersection and the lack of a four-way stop sign could be factors in the increase in the number of accidents at the scene. An accident investigation is ongoing by authorities who are seeking witnesses to the crash.
When a person is killed due to a negligent driver, that driver may be responsible for any wrongful death damages. A fatal accident could lead to compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering and even punitive damages. A lawyer who has experience in this type of case may be able to assess the evidence from the scene and bring a lawsuit against the driver responsible for the crash.
